We’re looking for an experienced Market Segment Manager to act as our inhouse subject matter expert for two of the following market segments: Utilities; Oil & Gas; Waste Management; Trucking; Manufacturing; and Construction. This role will develop, execute and monitor performance of strategies and omnichannel campaigns, to drive sustainable top-line revenue growth for the assigned segments.

Our corporate headquarters is located in Chicago, IL. Employees work two days in the corporate office and can work remotely the remaining three days of the workweek. We offer 401k plus vision, dental and medical benefits, as well as a paid holiday and PTO package.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifies market, competitive, segment and industry trends, and develops value propositions and strategies to address these trends.

  • Builds business cases to support the identified market opportunities, and develops marketing programs that include all the relevant P's and customer-centric value statements.

  • Develops actionable, omnichannel "go-to-market" programs, by matching segment expertise with a data-driven 360 degree view of the target prospects as developed by the customer engagement team.

  • Works closely with the customer engagement, marketing, product management, and CMI & VMI sales groups to ensure the customer-centric value statements/messaging, go-to-market strategies and programs are executed effectively. Ensures programs are translated to actionable outcomes, and feedback loops are in place for continuous learning.

  • Monitors Lawson's market share for the assigned segments and performance of the marketing programs.

  • Ensures the correct positioning of Lawson's portfolio for the assigned segments.

  • Provides input into the go-to-market strategies for new product introductions for the assigned segments.

  • Integrates customer and market intelligence into strategy and ensures key stakeholders understand market dynamics.

  • Consults with and provides input to internal and external sales channels who are managing accounts in the assigned segments.

  • Ensures that all internal and external sales channels are appropriately trained and have the key tools needed to execute go-to-market strategies for the assigned segments.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred, with at least 5 years of market segment/product management experience within the assigned segment market space, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of marketing concepts and principles.

  • A clear strategic thinker with excellent analytic skills and a proven track record in strategy development and execution.

  • Aptitude to develop innovative solutions to complex issues, within and outside own dicipline.

  • Ability to build strong relationships and achieve collaborative results in a cross-functional team environment at all levels of the business.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex information succinctly to a wide audience.

  • Strong organization and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, and proven ability to meet deadlines while working independently with minimal guidance.

  • Proven ability to successfully operate within a fast growing business.

  • Experience in the MRO and/or Equipment Rental industry a plus.

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • This position requires up to 50% travel.
